The start of any trip is, of course, the flight! This time, we flew with Thai AirAsia X, a well-known budget airline operating between Korea and Thailand
Everyone has different values and interests.
Some people insist on flying with full-service airlines like Thai Airways or Korean airlines, even if they have to stay in a crummy resort.
But for me, I see more than half of my travel experience as the resort stay, so I splurge on accommodations while saving on airfare by flying budget airlines.
Our family philosophy is to save on flights and spend more on delicious food at our destination.
Thai AirAsia X Flight Schedule
Thai AirAsia X Flight XJ9701
Departure/Arrival: Incheon International Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Departure Time: 12:40 AM, Arrival Time: 4:50 AM (Total flight time: 5 hours 10 minutes)
What surprised me this time was that the flight landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport instead of Thai AirAsia X’s usual hub, Don Mueang Airport.
After we landed, I found out from a forum post that they switched to using Suvarnabhumi Airport since last May!
Thai AirAsia X Baggage Policy
We all know that baggage is divided into two types, right?
The first is checked Suitcases, which you hand over at check-in and then pick up at baggage claim upon arrival. The second is carry-on baggage, which you take with you on the plane.
For Thai AirAsia X, checked baggage can weigh up to 20kg, and there’s an additional cost of around $70 per one-way trip.
If you purchase it during ticketing, it’s about $50 per one-way trip. It’s best to check this directly when booking your ticket.
The main point is, while you may have to carry a lot when your child is very young, but now that my child is 6 years old and more independent than before, I realized there’s no need to spend over $140 for round-trip checked baggage for a heavy suitcase.
Thai AirAsia X Carry-On Baggage Restrictions
As commented above, Thai AirAsia X allows carry-on baggage up to 7kg.
We carefully weighed our bags before leaving home to make sure each person’s bag didn’t exceed 7kg. Carrying a 7kg backpack turned out to be manageable and not too heavy.
But does that mean you only need to keep your carry-on under 7kg?
No, no. There are size restrictions as well—length, width, and height.
Check out the diagram above for details! Since the luggage needs to fit in the overhead compartment, there are specific dimensions it must adhere to.
Some airlines have even stricter regulations, which can cause a lot of frustration for passengers who aren’t aware.
Thai AirAsia X Seat Size
The Thai AirAsia X flight we took had a 3 x 3 x 3 seating arrangement, making it a mid-sized plane among those flying to Southeast Asia.
The captain and co-pilot were Thai, and there was one Korean stewardess along with the rest being Thai stewardesses.
What really stood out during this flight was the Korean stewardess’s announcement skills.
Instead of the usual, dull messages, she made an announcement that got travelers excited about entering Thailand.
She even explained some Thai customs, which was a refreshing touch!
It was a heartwarming moment, filled with her love and passion for her job.
Thai AirAsia X In-Flight Meals
A flight meal costs 250 baht. It’s not too expensive or too cheap for in-flight food.
They had options like fish cutlet, basil chicken, or teriyaki. These days, it seems you can choose from a pretty wide selection if you pre-order, which is great!
Suvarnabhumi Airport Concourse Review
Not only does Korea have concourses, but Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport does too!
Thai AirAsia X docks at the concourse.
After landing, you take a tram to the main airport, just like at Incheon Airport.
While Incheon’s tram route is straight, Suvarnabhumi’s tram has some curves, which makes the ride more interesting.
So this is the detailed look at flying with Thai AirAsia X from Incheon, Korea to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand.
Wishing you all a wonderful trip to Thailand!
