Jozankei Yurakusoan Onsen Ryokan Hot Spring Sapporo’s Paradise

When discussing the beauty of the East, you cannot overlook the onsen ryokan of Japan.
Though it’s been a few months since my visit to sapporo, I feel compelled to share my late review of the family accommodations we stayed at in Jozankei, Sapporo: Jozankei Yurakusoan

Location of Jozankei Yurakusoan

The ryokan is centrally located in Jozankei village, directly across from the Jozankei Shrine.
There are also convenience stores like FamilyMart and Lawson less than a minute’s walk away, making it very convenient to pick up snacks and other items.

Environment and Atmosphere of Jozankei Yurakusoan

Many of the large ryokan-style hotels in Jozankei are quite old and dated.
However, Jozankei Yurakusoan is a relatively new ryokan, which means the facilities are clean and well-maintained.

While it retains the traditional Japanese ryokan ambiences with wood and stone materials, the modern and spacious interior sets it apart from other places.
Similar to the Dormy Inn chains in Osaka, you take off your shoes upon entering the lobby and walk around in socks on tatami mats.

Deluxe Twin Room at Jozankei Yurakusoan

The ryokan is structured like a large hotel rather than separate villas of one of Yufuin villages.
The high ceilings give a sense of spaciousness.
The room features twin beds like a standard hotel, but it also has a large living area.

All the furniture seems brand new, giving the impression of moving into a modern Japanese-style condo. The bathroom is dry-style and very clean!

The welcome cookies and drip coffee set were also incredibly luxurious and perfectly suited our family’s tastes.
We booked the cheapest room, but even those come with a hinoki bath next to the bathroom.

You can enjoy a relaxing hinoki bath while sipping tea and taking in the beautiful town view through the large windows. It’s pure paradise.

Large Communal Onsen at Jozankei Yurakusoan

The onsen interior feels like a well-designed garden, with four different styles of baths, making it feel like a gift set that combines the best features of various private baths we’ve experienced.
You can choose from a wide variety of yukata, including ones for children, all free of charge.

The late-night ramen soba and complimentary ice cream after the onsen were the same high-quality service as the Onyado and Dormy Inn chains.

Since staying at a ryokan isn’t cheap, we always compare prices thoroughly before booking a trip to Jozankei or Yufuin.
Agoda consistently offered the lowest rates, so I’m sharing a link for you to check the prices by date.

Life is a mountain, and the goal isn’t to reach the top, but to find your own path.
